October 31, 2006Lebo Mathosa is dead. She died on 23 October 2006 in a car crash. Well, technically, she died after the crash, as she was alive a short while after the crash. Sad innit?
She was buried on Saturday 28 October 2006.
In the 5 days between her death and the funeral, there were so many fucking “tributes” to her, it makes me sick. She’s dead! Get over yourselves! SHE’S dead, not you! I get that she was this “icon” and all, but sweet fucking christ! Every Tom, Dick and Sarah is paying tribute to the woman asif they knew her personally! I liked her music (I still do!), some of it anyway. I even listened to some Boomshaka back in the day, but fuck, get over yourselves now and move on.
WWLMD – What Would Lebo Mathosa Do? She’d thank whatever god or goddess is the flavour of the month that she’s alive, and get on with her life, instead of harping on about somebody else being dead.

I just found that whenever I put the TV on over the past week, there’s at least one or two channels that were dedicating time and money to that woman… I hate it when regular TV is put out by some other crap… That being said, Lebo was a hotty. I’d have done her.

you’re funny but yeah I was kinda sad to hear bout her death (and I aint even South African)so I guess maybe its also just the media playing with peoples emotions and getting them to watch their tvs more or to buy mags…such is life!
Anywho, I stumble on your site by chance while I was trying to ‘find out more about Lebo’s death’ coz I like the rest of the world is obsessed with her

I hate the media. They totally skew the truth a lot of the times… But! Yes, But! But, if you look at this you’ll see that freedom of speech is being threatened here. As much as I hate the media, I think it is important that freedom of speech stays.

What I’ve found though, is that people are trying to make a quick buck off of the misery of others.
Mark my words, there’s going to be a “Best Of Lebo” compilation CD real soon, and who do you think is going to get the money from that?
There’s bound to be some asshole that’s going to be auctioning off some of her possessions that he managed to scrounge up somewhere.
And, that poor driver that is being fingered as being “the reason” that she’s dead? He’s not seen the last of the lime light… Hell, he’s not even having time to mourn…
wat makes you think the poor driver isn’t having that time to mourn… put yourself in his shoes and u will see how much pain he is going through now… do you realise that this driver could suffer from certain disorders that emanate from Lebo’s death…am juss asking…
Well, for one thing, I found that in yesterday’s The Star newspaper (See http://www.thestar.co.za/index.php?fArticleId=3518296 ) there was an article that featured the driver. He’s being hounded by the media, and has to come up with all excuses and whatever else for his actions and he has to explain certain pictures that were taken of him etc. He’s not being left alone to deal with her death.
That’s the point I was trying to make. The world should now get over itself and stop making it widely known exactly how they felt about her (we all know she was a loved icon), and get one with life and get on with mourning. I hate the fact that the media is carrying on and on and on about the whole thing. That’s not how people mourn… I suppose we all mourn in our own ways. Me, I’m not the kind of person that mourns the death of a celebrity that I didn’t know. Celebrity-dom is a hair-breadth away from creating false gods.

There’s nothing wrong with mourning people. There’s nothing wrong with mourning a celebrity. What I have a problem with, is other people trying to gain off of that mourning. Jumping on to the bandwagon of “Oh no she’s dead, she was loved” etc. just to get publicity. That’s what I have a problem with.
i loved LEBO so much it a pity that she is dead may her soul rest in peace.LEBO loved people so much and most of all she loved her mother thats what i loved most about her.

Hi All , ell I know that one thing taht she still lives within me , I know everything happens for a reason and I also loved her so much that I could see me and her caloborating together because I am also a singer but I have not yet reached the industry line ywt , but assure you once I am there I will keep the spirit up , she is the only lady in the music industry that gave me hope taht one day I would reach my dreams and I would get to a point
